  • Thanks for the upload Babe

  • Seriously, I saw this movie when I was eight and it was in theaters. I turned to my father at the beginning of the scene where Andy Garcia invites Mas to sit down and said "Daddy, I bet the funny man is going to die".

Did anyone NOT see it coming?

  • Could someone translate what the superintendent says at the beginning?

  • @Jehu30 That's Japan for you XD. They copy and make everything good as such as animes, cars, technology, etc. As it was in Europe, the U.S. set up military bases in Japan after WW2 to prevent them from acting aggressively again. So yes Japan had not been acting aggressively since World War 2. That's how Japan became an economic powerhouse and spend on their own. Which is good btw since Japan is still a free Democratic society all because of the USA.

  • @AGT619 Yeah, as I said they did innovate & became the world leaders in it, but for a while when setting up their post war industry they found it easier to just take a product from Europe or America & copy the item - why $pend on your own R&D to start with? Get on your post-war feet, rebuild, don't have a military budget to spend for anymore & build yourself into an economic giant - & that was an easy way to start, nothing more.

  • @Jehu30 But that doesen't make any sense considering how technologically advanced the Japanese are. If they can improve themselves by inventing something new, why would they not support their own original ideas instead of just copying other people. After all, innovation is the key to success.

  • @AGT619 Mas said: "We won the peace"-(economically after WWII). What Nick meant was all the Japanese would do is copy something someone else made & usually make some minor product improvement, put their badge on it & make their buck that way. If they had come up with something on their own, he meant they would not have backed their own idea but would rather just keep copying other people's cars, appliances, whatever. Of course they became leading innovators later.

  • Classic!!..aloha

  • "And if there was one of you guys, who had an original idea you would be so tight, you couldn't even pull it out of your ass!" What did Nick mean by that statement?
