Yoga For Peace was denied their Right to peaceable assembly on the town commons in Raymond New Hampshire by the Selectmen of the town. This was after they did Yoga for Peace last year and were told they had to ask for permission if they wanted to do it this year. They asked and were denied because the selectmen said: "We don't know what typeof people will show up and don't want to pay for a police detail."

We decided to do Open Carry for Peace instead. We had about 8 people open carrying. We were initially going to do a litter clean up, but instead did a walking around with signs. A large number of people passing by stopped in support of us, talked with us, and had a good time.

Another group was going to be out there near the end of the day hopefully composed of more local people. At the max we had about 25 people at once, but I believe we had about 50 people stopping by throughout the day.

  • How many people did you really have at the event? I look's to be about 15 tops? Did you have 40 people at it? WMUR is claiming that 40 people with guns showed up and they are members of a group named the free staters. The way they have the story up they make it seem like the town said no. So then a huge group of people descended upon the town with guns in protest. Then you have some nut job from mass calling you leftwing nut jobs who are going to plant bombs and blow things up. Way to funny.

  • At the peak during the 12-2pm "Open Carry" protest we had a peak of 25 people that I counted on the commons. There were a good 15-20 people that came and went throughout the time. I think there were at most 10 people who open carried. I do not know how many people showed up at 3pm-.

  • mackler you missed the point completely. Try reading the constitution some times. You might want to start by going to Freedom_of_assembly on wikipedia ;)

  • I think mackler was trying to make a joke. Assuming it's the mackler I know.

  • Yikes! I've never been held at gun point, but this weekend may be interesting, but hopefully it will be a non-issue. Of course they may not approach me since they now know me where I'm going.

  • I'm working on an audio open carry police encounter. There are a couple current open lawsuits once those finish we'll have police video for 2 more incidents. We've had people falsely charged with brandishing and seen several reports of "Failed to disclose". One of the police encounters the OC'er is at gunpoint with several officers forced to lie on the ground and cuffed.

  • Thanks! I have some not really OpenCarry things in the works [based on NH law], hopefully weather and time will co-operate and we'll see how much harassment or brutality I'll take from the police for it.

  • Oh BTW just wanted to say OpenCarryNH keep up the good work!! We're following your Youtube site from one of the people from Michigan Open Carry.

  • So illegal gatherings are now legal in Raymond?
