Imagine using our own resources in Anwar, North & South Dakota and the Rockies. Imagine a small group of dope smokers not running the other 98%......Imagine the jobs, the industry and freedom..............
I can agree with that clean air solution. What I don't agree with, is here in the USA, politicians punish us with taxes for using products we need. They punish us with taxes and waste the money somewhere else and in the Prop87 document, there is no guarantee that the money will help make anything come true. Bill Clinton is a liar, that doesn't help. The government cannot use money wisely, that doesn't help us either. Private industry makes dreams come true, not the government.
But after all, its a very good tecnology, doesn't destroy your car, its cheaper than gasoline, but gasoline in Brasil is expensive, like 1 dollar the litter, but the more important point is that the tecnology its totally renewable, not releasing more carbon in atmosphere.. Thats important.
I don't know if you guys know, but in Brasil (With s, please)80% of the cars sold here (actually there, cause I'm in Italy)are "flexfuel" cars, we can use only ethanol, only gasoline or one mixture of them in any proportion, and with this we are safe when ethanol prices arises, since ethanol production and sugar productio competes for the same raw material, sugar cane, and when sugar cane prices arises, the producers preferres to produce sugar cane nor ethanol... Aren't them smart...
Maybe the companies will look for profit, not for the enviroment... Why do you think we all around the world (I'm brazilian) have problems with pollution... because its not reliable, you cant make profit, you will allways have to spend money, without return in money.
American oil companies are not the evil that politicians point them out to be. Chevron is smart to support the NO vote. For them it means less government hassle to make a product we all use and buy. It also means that government does not get to waste tax dollars, which they waste very well. Private industry will find cleaner solutions on their own, without government.
"If Brazil can do it, so can California"
No, you can't.

The point here is that big oil is getting oil from California soil on the cheap. They should pay us just like they pay Alaska and Texas.
