Rory was ranked 57 in Rolling Stone's 2011 list of greatest guitarists of all time. Gibson's 2010 list had Rory at 42. Also, Joe Bonamassa recently named Rory as one of his biggest influences, just after Clapton, Kossoff, Beck, Page and two others. Also, Joe played Rory's Sunburst Strat at his 2011 London gigs (for "Cradle Rock"). I agree Rory is mind-blowing but for whatever reason, he seems to be viewed more today as a cult hero than a "legend".

I look at this in amazement.. and then I go look at lists of the best guitarists of all time and he's not even placed? He was a mind-blowing guitarist. Its wrong.

Thanks m8 and i have 1 problem with Rory Gallagher and thats whenever i watch a full concert of his on youtube i have to watch from start to finish and some of his concerts were 2 hours long he hypnotised me with his awesome guitar playing and i saw one of his last interviews the other day where he said SRV ripped off the idea of a worn looking strat from him and probably true since rory has been around since the 60,s

@shredmaster100 Amen brother!

Rory was Bob Dylan's favorite guitar player - there is a street in Paris named after Rory. RG was a rare gem.

its because he didn't write top 20's on purpose so the industry shut him out

@Easleytee You just did it!
Rory stuck to his guns and he never got down on his knees for nobody.The man devoted his life to his music and his loyal fans and never sold out. Rory also mastered a variety of other instruments.This man makes me proud to be Irish." ROCK ON"
