How To Kick-Start a Motorcycle

I dedicate this to the teen who's stuck in Boringville and has a party to go to and her or his only ride is the old bike in the shed out back. And it's been so long since he's ridden, he can't frakin remember how to start it. I have been there!
To answer a few questions:
If you are still having trouble, try leaning the bike over. (maybe 2 seconds) This will prime, or get gas into, the system.
Don't flood it or you will be kicking alot more. Whole other subject...
And if you are really brave, take out the spark plug. Examine for errors. Blow out the dust. And I would lightly sand or wipe any foreign substance off, being careful not to break or mar the plug. Examine the hole and cable before replacing.
Otherwise, take it to the repair man. I am just a girl.

@Lachman0102 First wear tall boots! To keep from kicking back, push the kickstarter down till you feel the compression and release, then kick it. The idea is to kick when it is at the top.

You don't need to hold the clutch in, but many people make it a habit because of its constant use. Might as well. There's no damage either way.

Thanks for the vid, it's really helpfull for the new people. My ol' kz650 rat bike is a kicks start only. The bike is big, heavy and awkward. I totally have to start it with the side stand down using my body weight. cool vid, guys. Thanks again.

that was actually helpful. the first time i ever kick started a bike (125cc) i done it first go but my dad has been motorbiking for 28tears now and is teaching me.

@boxyqueens I've got a Honda that doesn't start with the clutch in.

Gotta put it in neutrel with the clutch OUT.

It's a 72cc Honda SS btw. ^^
