On August, 22, 2010 -- The "pads" of my fingers on my right hand started bruising and became very painful when I tried to turn on a faucet, turn the key in the doorknob, and even grabbing a soda can became painful.
I had been taking a Prednisone dose pack and thought I was having an allergic reaction and ignored it until this morning.
When I woke...the middle digit was blue all the way around. The nail bed was also blue and cold as ice. My doctor tried two different blood oxygen machines on the finger and nothing even registered.
The pain feels like a wasp is stinging me in the bone part, in the tips of the three fingers. My doctor seems to think it's something called Raynaud's Disease or Syndrome.
Blood tests were done and they used a Doppler thingy on every finger to listen to the blood flow in the veins of every finger. The left side of the middle digit doesn't have enough blood flowing.
My fingers look like hell due to a severe injury in 1999; which left the digits clubbed. The injury was from a baseball bat. The hand has not been recently injured in any way recently to cause this.
I will not know the results of the blood work until the middle of next week. Until then, I pray that I don't lose my fingers.
It ended up to be SLE Lupus. This was the first odd sign I had. They found it after numerous blood tests. It ended up attacking my whole hand. It comes in what's called flare ups. The ring finger is the only finger that's doing this funky stuff now. The other two fingers peeled horribly as it moved from finger to finger. It's very painful and so far it hasn't affected my left hand at all.
