Mobile Home Fire 9-28-2009

September 28th structure fire. E-1 Brandon Lane (Helmet Camera) FF 2 in short film was Dustin Ward. Chief was on scene speaking with homeowners. Dean King arrived POV. The Helmet Camera turned off after that, but we had very little help, we did have a tanker show up. Keep your eye on What goes on. FF 1 (Brandon L) initially pulled 1-1 3/4" handline while sizing the scene up making sure he got a check of all 4 sides of the mobile home. The charlie-delta and delta-alpha side "C" Side of the mobile home was saved other than minor smoke damages. Inititally there were not enough FF's on scene to make an interior attack and as you can see wouldn't have been made anyways due to the conditions! RISK A LITTLE TO SAVE A LITTLE has been pounded in these firefighters head!!!!! OMNIS CEDO DOMUS BROTHERS ENJOY! -Check out the heavy black smoke boiling out of the front door after its forced open. When overhaul was conducted we found a 9MM loaded,about a case of 12 guage shells, Many .270 rounds. Just a great video by the New Helmet camera!! I think that you guys made the right call. Only if you had a back-up team would you enter the right side door and proceed to the fire for an offensive attack. Even in this situation, you had a great deal of fuel (smoke) in that little box an offensive would be a marginal call. Allways play it safe when you have dangerous staffing levels. I commend you guys for your dedication to your community with the challenges you face.

The Chief was en route CF truck as well as other volunteers POV. We are limited on manpower and have to do what we have to do as long as its safe.

@dclevey Exactly i think these guys made the right call. teh immature firefighting commandos here on yt, seem to think otherwise. BUT they attacked it on the safe. which is difficult,and many times may make it look as tho youre standing around with hands in pockets. might i ask what happened with teh hose when you first started attacking fire?, saw you lay a hose down, and pick up another?

Good job with only 2 guys. Not to Monday morning quarterback this...but one thing to check on mobile home fires...propane tanks. The helmet cam show a large propane tank on the c/d corner. Should have removed that first or your chief. Just saying for next time.
