Sequence of high quality H-Bomb detonations out in the Pacific Ocean in 1956. These were conducted during Operation Redwing at the Pacific Proving Ground to test nuclear weapons.
This HD clip is an extra on the Trinity Blu Ray disc:

  • I remember seeing a commercial for Trinity and Beyond on Discovery when I was 10. I thought HOLY CRAP, and asked my parents to order it. Thankfully they did... I was borderline obsessed with it, and it got me extremely interested in nuclear science. Now 15 years later, I am reminded that I need to buy the Blu Ray to compliment my VHS, DVD, Atomic Filmmakers, Rainbow Bombs, and Atomic Journeys.

  • Omg, I love nukes!

    Yay for Nukeism!

  • oh zeeh carnage! ™

  • While I love nuclear weapons to the utmost, I feel that mankind must learn to control itself, and that the use of such weapons within a planetary atmosphere can only lead to upcoming destruction for a species and its world. It is utterly foolhardy to want to use these weapons on a continuous basis, and they ought to be employed only for deterrence and barely ever mainly for offense.

  • screenshots of the hell itself

  • Looks like the opening sequence to the lion king 0:22

  • Sounds like Final Destination music.

  • they're so beautiful!

  • I would love to see Peter restore some Soviet H-bomb tests that were conducted on land. The US tests that were conducted in the humid Pacific atmosphere were always obsured by the compression and heating of the air around them. I love the top comment above. I was the same way. When I first saw this film on cable TV in 1998, I was truly amazed. I bought the soundtrack and was obsessed by it. I played that CD over and over again. I have probably watched the DVD two dozen times or more also.

  • so beautiful, yet so deadly....... thats what she said lol

  • And to think these bombs are more merciful than previous nuclear weapon technology.
