The Kullawada is a Bolivian dance that originates in the lake Titicaca region among the the highlands of the country. This is a traditional dance for alpaca and sheep wool weavers. The dancers wear colorful, elaborately decorated costumes for the dance symbolizing social class to which weavers and textile workers belong. This is why dancers use a little spinning wheel meaning their belonging to weaving workers.
The Bolivian group LLAJTAYMANTA interprets this rhythm danced by the cultural troupe KORY WAYNAS.
Kory Waynas is member of the Bolivia Action Solidarity Network (www.bolivia.grupoapoyo.org) in Montreal, Quebec.
