I bought a 50 c railroad spike at the goodwill store and had some alright steel laying around so I cut out a blade and refined it and made a circular tang about 4 inches long and 1/4-1/2 thick. Cut off the spiked tip of the spike. and matched a slightly larger drillbit to the tang and drilled it straight down the length the spike the length of the tang. Then I melted some brass with my cutting torch poured some in the hole and inserted the tang. I let it cool down and knocked off the bras stub

I bought that knife for 8$

Nice mods Kamo, I look foreward to seeing a test run!
Then I made a guard and welded it to the spike and blade to keep it on for good, after that I sanded down my welds to look better and drilled a lanyard hole and put in some parachord I had laying around. Total cost 50 c. Not particularly a survival knife but I thought I would share as its the cheapest build I've done but definately the one I'm most proud of.

@thatguru877 Sounds cool. That's what it's about for me as well. Being creative and making something to call your own without having to drop a lot of cash. I like the challenge.

I always like these modification vids that you do, I have started my own peanut butter container, and the hardest thing is cleaning out the residual peanut butter!

@barefoot130 LOL, let it soak for one day with water and dish detergent. After that it should wipe clean with some hot soapy water. Thanks for the input, peanut oil is tough.

Hi Kamo, wonderful video and I loved your challenge at the end. Projects like this are a great low budget opportunity to inspire creativity and redefine what is comfort and what is necessity. I would rather keep something like this in my car as back up as opposed too something expensive to replace. Thanks for all the great ideas and take care. : )

@saradreaming Thanks Sara, you get it. I take some heat for videos on cheap stuff but, not everyone is blessed with hundreds of dollars to spend on knives and gear. I want to encourage everyone and anyone to make the best of what they have at hand. I believe that the most precious of gifts can be found in plain wrappers, not from loud and proud rappers. Wow, a rhyme and a proverb. Peace my friend.
