Millions of dollars wasted on this when there are real criminals. How do these police officers, judges and city servents live with themselves. They got caught and embarassed, rather than just leave it alone, they do this over basically personal pride. The ignorance and corruption of public officials just never ceases to amaze me.

Why is the prosecution throwing the book at him? What a waste of public funds. If I was a citizen of that county, I would be calling the district attorney to focus their investigation in the crimes of their public servants in the police department. This is wrong.

Yeah, this is pretty shameful. I hope some of these public officials were either fired or not reelected.

True, one CAN go to trial without an attorney.

Think about this for a moment, when an attorney is going to court he or she will have an attorney represent them.

And, the legal definition of wiretapping varies between states.

Here in Texas the police can not charge someone with wiretapping unless there are actual wires involved so they use "obstruction".

Some departments now require that officers have cameras, and a fair number of problem cops simply quit.

THIS GUY IS BEING PROSECUTED FOR "WIRETAPPING" IM GUESSING THAT HE HELD UP A VIDEO CAMERA TO A POLICEMAN. AS THIS IS HAPPENING YOUR GOVERNMENT IS MONITORING YOUR EMAIL,PHONE CONVERSATIONS,INTERNET TRAFFIC,ETC. AND THEY ARE NOT BEING PROSECUTED FOR WIRETAPPING

No different than any other state/government-funded office. Monetary budgets are written out @ start of fiscal year (yes, they WOULD budget for this offense as it is/was new law at the time budget was written). Once the "procedure" is begun the court is bound to go as far as defendant willing to go. The trial must take place, jail time must be collected in advance to assure payment for "procedure" & assuage over-crowding. Once remanded state must account (win or lose) & get paid.

We are talking about PUBLIC servants here not DICTATORS who can do or say whatever they WANT.

Both the defendant and the Judge were speaking to each other respectfully so why do you THINK the Judge would have the Right not to speak with the defendant respectfully?

Make an oral objection and ask for an extension to file a written motion; Yes, ask that this extension of time will also allow you to provide the court with a witness list and you need the state's witness list to prepare for Trial.
