The Philippines has one of the highest birth rates in Asia. Economists say that unintended pregnancies are stifling growth and driving millions into poverty.

However, the government has refused to promote modern contraceptives which have succeeded in curbing population growth elsewhere on the continent.

  • i hope these catholic fanatics will be totally wiped out in the face of the philippines.

  • the lady anchor is more intelligent than TATAD..pfft!

  • The poor have the right to not have sex, or the right to procreate naturally. The poor have their basic human right to exist, and to procreate. The poor have the right to seek gainful employment, start businesses, do what they can to earn their own wealth, but not to steal it from others

Should we murder off the poor? Can we fix poverty by killing the poor? And yet pushing contraception is also trying to "kill off the poor." Having big families, isn't the problem, but corrupt gov causes poverty

  • Poor people can't afford contraceptives? So what? Contraceptives are unnatural and shoddy, but is that really the issue?

The truth is, rampant contraceptive pushing, violates people's rights. They try to ell us on marxist thinking. I say, poor have more need to decent housing, not unnatural contraceptives. Should rich have to buy poor people houses? Stealing people's wealth, undermines wealth creation.

What if poor want big families? Poor have no right to steal condoms, nor to steal houses.

  • He makes some good points. Government has no authority to invade people's bedrooms, nor to curb population growth.

People do not deserve subsidies for experimental, shoddy, Big Pharma contraceptives, for that steals from people who also may want the fruits of their labor to support their own children. Subsidies = big, intrusive, government, stifles business = more poverty. People already have the free natural options of no sex, rhythm, pulling out, or simply let families grow large? naturally.

  • The Phil govt have been aware of problems concerning the population, abuses of OFWs, dysfunctional justice system, govt graft and corruption for more than 40 years but not much have been done.

The Phil. Constitution has so many flaws but the main reason is the govt has been tainted by incompetent political dynasties attributed to nepotism in the Senate and Congress whose main concerns are their own and cronies interest that manifested throughout living conditions of the general population.

  • "No quality of life if there is no life"

    Puta ang bobo ni Tatad.

Puwede naman kasing quality of life in terms of GREAT SEX and NO CHILDREN.

    :P

  • I was at a forum on the RH Bill in the University of the Philippines Diliman last December 7, 2010. Tatad is a very good example of an intellectual and a moral charlatan. All that he has in defending his claims is a conspiracy theory and a fundamentalist interpretation of the Philippine Constitution. I was surprised that some students in the University of the Philippines applauded a very tendentious speech by a former lawmaker which shows ignorance of basic biology, economics, and philosophy.

  • I moved back to Philippins February this year. I've always wanted to "change" the country for the better. I know i cant really do much just myself, but i realized that feeding, educating, and passing on values to the children could make huge impacts.

I don't believe the state should be responsible for prevention. Its the parents responsibility, if they can't afford condoms then they better control themselves. I do believe it is the states responsibility to take care of its children.
