Fighting back in those days wasn't like the way you see it in a lot of movies. How the soldiers really fought was that they all got together and tried to ram the enemy lines into submission until they collapsed and were then overrun. Battles were very bloody, cramped, noisy and horrible. Trust me, as terrible as war is now, it was a whole lot fucking worse back then.
