The Opportunity Mars Rover is launched from Cape Canaveral in 2003 on top of a Delta 2 rocket. I shot this from Jetty Park across the water from the launch pad. Thanks to www.spacearium.com

  • how loud was that

  • Agree with the memory lane thing. My wife and I watched it from Cocoa Beach on our honeymoon. ;)

  • Thanks for the trip down memory lane. My wife and I watched this from the NASA KARS1 site to the west, across the Banana River. The MER-B was supposed to launch 2 days after we arrived in Florida, but it finally got away 4 nights before we went home. There were lots of delays with LOX tank insulation and then the Flight Termination System battery, and then, on launch night, a faulty LOX fill/drain valve stopped the first count at T minus 7 seconds! They fixed that and away it went!
