a better electric power plant and three blade bronze prop works better. theses up grades are shown on rc groups postings

I have yet to find out how fast it can go. It needs a lipo battery and brass prop With a better hobby grade prop and hobby grade electric notor or brushless and lipo it should be about 15 - 20 or faster because it is light and flat botton and has low weight

Hey there, nice mod. I just got one at Target. I figured since i am mostly an r/c pilot and its getting too windy up here north to fly during those winter months i get a r/c boat. I use to have a sea ray back in the day, no r/c just point the rudder and run it.
What type of battery did you put in there? Is it a Lipo?
And does it leak? I have not ran mine yet.

@newyorkflyerRC a lipo 22 volt would likely work well but i have two chargers now and two batteries 19.8 and two 9.6 packs wired in series that provide the power.
Clearly a better grade of 550 engine and better higher current wires would be a great upgrade yes it leaks in reverse . i have a octura prop on it now and have waited for cooler weather and the 10 foot gator to leave the pond i run in or at least get slower.

@eustonianboater
Nice setup. I like to see it go fast in a straight line and use a radar gun. lol..
Check out mine in the rough surf. Stock motor of course.

@newyorkflyerRC not that slow as now that it has an octura prop. when the gators get out of the pond for winter i will take the gun out and check its speed. about 7 to 8 actual i would anticipate on stock power and battery.

@newyorkflyerRC yours is the direct drive 20 inch one... the one i have has 19.8 volts and a 550 geared surface prop drive and is near hobby grade in perfornance.
