Governor Eliot Spitzer Apology For Prostitution Ring

Gov. Eliot Spitzer apologizing as he has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel.The governor's statement came four days after federal prosecutors in New York announced charges against four people accused of running an international prostitution and money-laundering ring that catered to big spenders. Spitzer, who is married with three children, prosecuted at least two prostitution rings in New Yprk as attorney general.
The wiretap recording, made during an investigation of a prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP, captured a man identified as Client 9 on a telephone call confirming plans to have a woman travel from New York to Washington, where he had reserved a room. The person briefed on the case identified Mr. Spitzer as Client 9 paid $4,300 for an appointment that began on Feb. 13 and ended next day, according to the affidavit. According to prosecutors, Emperors Club VIP charged between $1,000 and $5,500 an hour and operated in New York; Los Angeles, California; Miami, Florida; London, England; and Paris, France.
In 2004, then-Attorney General Spitzer announced charges against 18 people linked to an escort service that he said was a ``massive'' prostitution ring that operated in New York City, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey.

Das Problem mit der amerikanischen Gesellschaft ist dass die politischen Figuren eine Funktion als Vorbilder haben (vergleichbar mit den Lehrern in den ersten Schuljahren). In Österreich geschieht ziemlich oft das gleiche: öffentliche Figuren verwechseln ihre Arbeit mit dem Privatleben. Dies zeigt nur, dass die Menschen heutzutage keinerlei Respekt vor der Privatsphäre anderer haben. Welche ist ihre Meinung dazu?

@AndreasAntoniusMaria you're right. america is a very narrow minded and conservative society, while holland has always been known for their liberalism. there is no place for free spirits out there, holland is a paradise for free thinking people. i personally don't see why anyone should go to prison just for having sex with a prostitute if he is in need and can afford it, nor why a prostitute should be discriminated for accepting. and yeah, i also feel sorry for this dude's wife :/
