What are you doing to protect the transmission on your truck? This is a rear wheel drive truck and the drive wheels are still on the ground which is still spinning the transmission. The transmission is actually spinning dry since your engine isn't running.

This is a 4 wheel drive Colorado so I put the transfer case into electronic neutral and that is all that neeeds to be done except to strap the wheel so it does not turn since the Colorado does not have a steering lock, if you have a 2 wheel drive you MUST get a drive shaft dissconnect or it will burn up the tanny.
