A song I wrote following a very difficult time in my life. I survived to find myself looking back to search the path that lead me to, through and beyond the difficulties. I found that I had the gentle guidance and love of God through it all.
I recorded this using the Garage Band program that came with my new Mac. It was pretty cool figuring out that I could use my computer keyboard for the fake "strings" for a track on top of my old 12 string guitar on another track. and record the voice on top of that (never had those capabilities before). I added the clips of some of my own photographs and artwork and also some additional images I found online. I would love to be able to ask permission to use those images if you know who I might ask.

Obviously, I'm not a songbird nor can I play a decent guitar, but this was an honest effort of expressing something, so I leave it loaded on here. I do hear and see all the flaws, but somehow I think something of value comes through in spite of the flaws. There's an incredible Love that sustains me, God's Love. No matter what comes and goes, He is there. No matter how many times I loose focus and get off course, His Love shines through the darkness to guide me back to a greater understanding of His grace.
The Vessel
To the ground, my tears have fallen,
Mixed with the love, I gave in vain.
The miry clay, now lies swollen
A grave reminder of the pain.
Your loving hands, I am calling
For Thee alone can wrought anew
From this spent and trampled wasteland
Left behind a love untrue.
Left behind a love untrue.
Take the grey
shapeless clay,
new vessel make
teach me Thy way
Tracing steps in the darkness
Back to where I lost my way,
Ever turning in the mist
a path of sorrow was lain.
Your loving hands, I am calling
For Thee alone can wrought anew
From this spent and trampled wasteland
Left behind a love untrue.
Left behind a love untrue.
Across the jagged ledges
the trail lead on through violent storm,
torrents carved away great boulders
and mountain crumbled, before morn.
Your loving hands, I am calling
For Thee alone can wrought anew
From this spent and trampled wasteland
Left behind a love untrue.
Left behind a love untrue.
Take the grey
shapeless clay,
new vessel make
teach me Thy way
