Meditation has three purposes: 1) Enlightenment, a spiritual event. 2) Insight, a knowing. 3) Centering, an internal stability. Like awakening Enlightenment has stages; 1) a burst of light and energy; 2) a divine, non worldly experience of peace and 3) an ascension to nirvana, all 3 being spiritual events. Meditation is a practice leading to events.
The Buddha was a "ascetic" beggar when he became Enlightened, he surrender a kingdom for Enlightenment.

You're very present in this video. You seem to have a very pure soul. Thank you

that some people are not as mindful and aware because they are just trying to survive. but When I was coming back home from my stress filled and anxiety afternoon. I was just staring out and i found my stillness :) Ive been practicing meditation for a long time because I have limited contact with people and I live alone only time I do is when I work or i make time for special cool friends...so the isolation from others helps...

Today I reached a single focused stillness when I was on the cta today I was stressing because I was late for an all staff meeting at xsport and then I was dealing with everybody's projections on the cta and how miserable they really are but they see my energy and don't understand what to make of it so they see it as a threat...sorry i know that is mean I know (ill type more)

if no doer, 'who' is meditating?
I was just around nature for a week. As much as I appreciated the variety of environments, and being in something I'm not used too, when I tried to be still in nature, I was actually the most stressed I'd been in a while. I couldn't handle it at all. It seemed like being in nature was having the exact oposite effect on me that I've come to hear others say it has on them.

@TokenDrone Believe it or not, this is very normal. All of the old, repressed emotion that was never given the opportunity to liberate itself tends to come up in the stillness. This is why most distract themselves with so much doing/busy-ness. No one ever teaches us how to clean up our inner-space, so to speak. The good news is: Beneath the stress/discomfort, there is Deep Peace. Those feelings are just layers masking your *True Nature*. The inner-work is not always easy, but it surely pays off!

I'm 65, and if I meditate in the morning.. I'd go back to sleep... lol.. Actually my key to inner peace is getting my feet to touch the floor in the morning.
My inner peace is when I create a work of art and at the moment you realize you've just put something there in front of yourself that never was before. I agree though, a moment for yourself in the morning and evening is such great advise. Thank you for this wonderful video. I know I started the comment jokingly, bur what you say is right

@clayguy1 Beautiful!!! Moving meditations are just as powerful... ideally, we are walking through our lives bridging the level of consciousness that comes from meditation to our every day involvement. In yoga this is the concept of merging Shiva and Shakti, which is a form of embodied freedom! :) I am really appreciating everyone's input here!!! :)
