Terry Laughlin, David Barra and Willie Miller completed a simultaneous solo crossing (as opposed to a relay crossing) of the 9 mile Maui Channel swim in 4 hours and 55 seconds. Our boat captain told us that they beat the record time previously set by a relay of 6 people. I (Fiona Laughlin) swam from the boat to the shore with the underwater camera to capture the finish, just in time for them to climb out of the surf. After we swam back to the boat and sailed towards the bay a pod of what was estimated by our boat captain as about 150 Spinner Dolphins came cruising by jumping and spinning into the air for a magical close to our day.
FULL CHANNEL SWIM VIDEO COMING SOON!
