Ocean Beach Pier - High Surf & Monster Wave

Here is another video from the same day of high surf pounding the Ocean Beach pier. In this clip a monster wave comes in and crashes up against the boardwalk and puts the front end loaders under about 4 feet of water in addition to eroding any sand wall protection they were trying to provide.

The "high" surf appears to be just an extremely high tide. It's coming all the way up to the sea wall. Big waves on a regular tide wouldn't normally do that. Look at all the kelp!

Storm off Mexico. I've seen waves over that pier a foot or two. And yes, there are sharks there. I used to catch Leopard Sharks there to eat. Late one night, a huge Hammer Head came up to the peir and started chewing muscles off the pylons. It was way cool. He was an awesome fish. In no time, there were 40 or 50 people watching. Some drunk guys were playing around and climbing outside the rail. We were hoping one would fall in so we could have a real show!
