Also the parable the Lord taught in matthew 25 about the ten virgins gives great insight. As for me I am in the 1 corinthians 7 mindset. 27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 29But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none. Great topic guys!!

Just because the unbeliever bounced doesn't mean they free to be married again, the precept came right back addressed the woman as his wife and the man as her husband in verse 16, why, because Romans 7:2 bound her so long as he liveth, then if he dies she is able to marry again and vice versa. The Most don't promote second and third marriage, he promotes 1, if a person wants their relationship to work then they shouldn't yoke with an unbeliever, cause if they do its their fault they bound.

If all it takes is a man laying with a woman to make her his wife, can someone please tell me the DIFFERENCE between a concubine and a wife?

And why does the scriptures say in 1 Kings 11 that Solomon had concubines and wives AND he MARRIED strange women? How were SOME of the the strange women concubines and OTHERS wives??

There is a difference between making a woman your wife and ILLICIT sex, which is the basis for 1 Corinthians 6:16-18

Regarding John 4:17 +18---

The woman said 'I have no husband".

Christ said 'For thou has HAD (past tense) five HUSBANDS; and he whom thou NOW hast is NOT thy husband: in THAT saidst thou truly."

In the Old Testament divorce was allowed. Remarriage was allowed as long as there was a divorce certificate.

There is a reason Christ called the previous men she HAD her husbands, but stops short of calling the man she was currently laying with her husband.

So many of us are following the doctrines of men and not the scriptures. It's also dangerous because we are still lviing in this kingdom and until it gets destroyed, official marriages are important for things like inheritance, insurance and such.

You see, a female always belongs to a man. When she's born she takes on her dad's last name automatically and when she's married she takes on her husband's last name as part of her being his wife.
