Barefoot running is good, provided you don't do it on asphalt!

Actually, asphalt is one of the BEST surfaces for barefoot running because it gives you the most feedback about your form. Running on softer surfaces, on the other hand, is like taking the padding from your shoes and putting it on the ground. I've seen hundreds of barefoot runners who, on grass, run with the same bad form they use in running shoes... but put them on pavement and things change quickly.

So your argument is that asphalt is good because it provides feedback, not asphalt is good because it is an inherently good surface to run because our feet were designed to run on it?
Did we evolve to run on asphalt? I would like to see more studies dive into this.

I'd contend that we evolved to run on lots of surfaces and asphalt is one that we can handle without a problem. I know a LOT of people who run 50-100 miles a week on asphalt, and have been doing so for over 18 months, without a hitch.
Given how it gives you great feedback, I'd also say that it's an inherently good surface.

a) you're not the only one that thinks that
b) Just because you and others think it, doesn't mean you're right ;-)
c) If you're fine in your shoes, nobody is telling you to get out of them (though it is a lot of fun to feel the ground)
d) Many people switch to barefoot very quickly, not in months?
e) Many who switch experience MANY rewards, no bruises, and a FULL wallet (because barefoot costs nothing)
f) Your last sentence makes no sense. If it works, why would anyone STOP promoting it?

Guilty: why are minimalist shoes more expensive?

If shoes work for you, great. But for some of us, they just make things worse. Not everyone's feet/ legs/ bodies are designed in the same way.

I'd like to challenge something. This video is in good humor so this is a touch tongue in cheek. (For the record I'm a runner, love barefoot running, love your product and love the emerging counter cultures... it's like trail running is the surf scene of the 60s/70s.) I loved Born to Run, have no idea how to pronounce "Tarahumara" (<-probably mis-spelled), and try to look at others running gaits to understand how to run better. I rant about the aforementioned mainly because I'm passionate :D
