Diagnosed with cancer (31 years old) -- his perspective of health care while in the midst of cancer treatment -- My Son. See vidiblog www.imonchemo.com
(cont)I mean, look what happens when you entrust something that impacts high dollar industries in the hands of the federal government? Even if it is instituted for a good purpose by leaders you trust and respect, EVENTUALLY, if it grossly impacts business' ability to make money, business people find their way into government and tweak the laws and programs to their benefit. The FDA is a great example of why I do not support a federal government operated medical system.(Still for Obama though! ;)
And I think this is another very important question and point. The FDA no longer fulfills its intended function of ensuring the public's safety. It has been transformed to be an organization that ensures profitability in the food and medical industries. And here is something else to think about folks, in terms of Universal Healthcare . . . while I understand we are facing a crisis and SOMETHING needs to be done, is it really wise to put this in the hands of the federal government? (to be cont)
you're right. cures do not make as much money as keeping people on drugs. There are cures for some of the things for which people are still being treated on a long-term basis. The cures are buried and it is def. a medical conspiracy.
another question is: why is it so hard and cost so much to approve natural cures? If cost 800,000 dollars to go before the FDA. who is going to pay that for a natural cure that they cannot patent? Our system, as it stands, is against anything but profit.
No, I don't think you sound like a conspiracy theorist at all. I think you are spot on, in fact! And unfortunately, we have seen this very approach to viruses, such as herpes and HIV. . . more profitable to maintain them for a person's lifetime than to cure them. Thanks for making this very important point!
i know you didn't ask me but here's my perspective: cures don't make money after everyone's cured. perhaps the reason medical research hasn't produced cures is because medicine is more lucrative. but i dont want to sound like a conspiracy theorist. there is some sort of reward for investing in research, such as having a hand in medical advances like the cure for cancer. i guess i have a naive faith that people truly care about the well-being of their fellow man. at least that's what i hope.
Thank you for sharing. :-) I'm at odds with what I believe is right. I mostly agree it is not right that huge profits are made from peoples suffering. I also wonder though, who would invest in medical research to come up with cures and medications if there was not potential for a profit reward? Sure, there are some dollars donated to medical research, but a majority of funds come from folks who put up the money as an investment and anticipate receiving a return. Any thoughts?
You have the option it is a matter of priority. What are your priorities? Thats what we allocate our money and resources to. Until you change what peoples priorities are you won't change what people believe to be their rights. The problem is a societal problem that can only be changed when the people really want it to change. Seems we don't want it bad enough.
