Another reason why you shouldn't buy modern appliances. My Panasonic microwave from June 1995 still works great.

You should set that to about 20 minutes and set a camera up. Then wait for the transformer to do something cool like catch fire or something

Dude, The high voltage transformer is burning up. This transformer steps up 120 house hold voltage to 4000 volts dc to power the Magnetron Tube. The copper windings are shorting together, causing the transformer to overload itself, happens when the insulation on the windings break down. Sometimes it can be the high voltage capacitor that's also causing this. If you ever wondered why your microwave is so heavy on the control panel side, it's because of the high voltage transformer.

Hey! Ours just made a big popping noise and a bunch of smoke came out too! Its a .....PANASONIC. Guess I wont be buying another one.

My Panasonic with inverter just burned out this morning! Manufactured October 10 2007. Electrical smell terrible, Had to call in the neighbor to Drag it outdoor.

it is going back to walmart tomorrow
It was a burnt electronic smell, thats why I did it outside. The first time it happened inside it smell stunk up my house.
