start in second, and shift to 3rd with the back of your boot as you pull it up to put it on the peg.

i allways start in 2nd on the gates an ive got a ktm 125, its just easyer than 1'st and you'd probs flip it

I start in 3rd gear on my 85 but I either bog out or get the holeshot, or in the top 5 for the holeshot.
