Firmware 2.0.4 Malfunction - VIDEO # 1:
Firmware 2.0.4 for Canon 5D Mark II is really a GREAT update, but we found a malfunction related to iris/aperture that occurs with some lenses.
We CONFIRMED this issue with the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro USM lens.
It was tested and confirmed by several users, with several copies and several camera bodies, it is not an isolated lens or camera problem.
DESCRIPTION:
This video shows how the IRIS/diaphragm of this lens "jitters" (it can also be HEARD) when the user manually rotates the focus ring and the camera is in FULL MANUAL mode for movie (M + Live View mode set to "Still+Movie - Movie Display").
This IRIS jitter affects the image being recorded on video.
This strange behavior prevents the use of this great lens for serious movie/video purposes, making the footage unusable.
NOTES:
1- The settings described above are the correct ones to have "full manual control" on movie/video mode.
So the IRIS jitter (nor any kind of iris change) should NOT happen in this situation, and in fact it does NOT happen in Firmware version 1.1.0.
2- Please note that the aperture value on the camera's LCD monitor is always kept at the same value (3.2), and the user does NOT change it. In this video we ONLY changed focus.
3- You can also watch the Video # 2 which shows the IRIS jitter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaOnN3aZO6E
VERY IMPORTANT:
- We use Canon gear and we love this camera. That's why we try to do our best in the most constructive possible way to encourage Canon to give the best features and results to their customers. We want the best from this extraordinary camera, and the best for Canon as company, for making it possible.
- Other lenses may suffer this issue too: we have received some reports about 3rd party lenses having similar problems ("weird noises" coming from the iris) and/or iris/diaphragm inconsistencies experienced with firmware 2.0.4.

@Israeltheman25 Yes! Canon has fixed it with Firmware 2.0.7
They have listened once again :)
The lens works properly now, as it did with firmware 1.1.0. No "iris jitter" anymore!
Canon has also recently fixed it for 1D Mark IV and T2i/550D with FW 1.0.8
Remember: when using this lens for movie/video, to avoid any kind of flickering you must set the camera to M, and ISO to fixed value (NOT to "auto").
Now these lenses are again perfectly usable for serious video purposes
Cheers
