The Asian Development Bank (ADB)-Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Knowledge Hub for Trade and Investment, in cooperation with Asia Society Philippine Foundation, the Knowledge Management Association of the Philippines, the University of Santo Tomas' College of Commerce and Business Administration, and the University of the Philippines' School of Economics, presented the work of Dr. Jeffrey Williamson, Laird Bell Professor of Economics at Harvard University and former Chair of the Economics Department. Last March 3, 2011, Dr. Williamson presented a lecture on "Globalization since 1492." Looking at capital markets, trade, and mass migration, this lecture answered the following questions: "When did the world go global?", "What caused the world trade boom in the three centuries after Columbus?", "What caused the world trade boom over the First Global Century 1820-1913?", and "What caused the early-mid 19th century leap to mass migration?"
