Another example of a quick and simple method for getting the tuning slugs adjusted on a PAiA Theremax theremin. Keys on a heterodyne tone associated with the volume pair and works to prevent the same--makes tuning to phantom heterodyne on the pitch side less likely than is possible when the clip-lead is used to force on the volume using the method described in the kit manual.

The L5 Choke Coil, which works to couple the oscillation from transistor Q4 to the volume antenna, might be open-circuit. The same 7v dc that's on the collector of Q4 should be out on each end of this coil, and the antenna.

  • did you have any problems tuning the volume antenna? I followed your directions and similar ones with the same results. The I adjust L3 til the gate LED comes on and the pitch comes on then back it off but it still won't control the volume. If you have any suggestions let me know please.
