Some cool setups for the Army PUP tent Shelter Halfs. Also a shout out to Equip2Endure with his German version which is really cool too.

  • Cool set ups, I need another pup tent like I had years ago. thanks for showing Ryan.

  • @Reallybigmonkey1 thanks for watching. i really like this tent. im getting ready to buy a GP Small army canvas tent with winter liner. cant wait.

  • One thing about canvas is it's durability. I often, over the years, have wished tent makers would put something like canvas on the bottom of their tents, to keep them from being so fragile. I've got an older Walrus tent that has a floor like a nylon paper towel. These surplus tents just plain last. Thanks for showing it.

  • @rainbowhiker i think they are more comfy too but could be due to memories of being in the army and when i got to go to bed it was in one of these and meant i was free for a few hours.

  • Well you are no frank geary but I did like the last configuration. Could you cook under that porch extention. You couldn't with the bug net but if it was open? I did have another configuration come to mind. How about the two halves facing eachother with some kind of connection on the sides with the same bevel like a trapazoid anyway you face it. There would be a center courtyard that could be covered at night with a bugnet plenty of room for the dogs and everything.

  • @touristinexile i think i understand what you are getting at and will try it out when i get the other shelter half. yes you can cook under this if the flames are low. i cook under my nylon tarp all the time with no problems either. this setup might be best for day time use.

  • @mrsdjsdj yep i slept in one while in the army in a blizzard of 1996 at ft. hood tx of all places. didnt enjoy it but survived and i think most tents would not have. i was sleeping in it for 2 weeks with all the snow. i have used them in the desert for months at a time and they can get hot too.

  • @FixedByDoc , I used my army shelter halfs this winter with my little wood burning stove and let me tell you when they get wet/damp, they sure do get heavy.

  • @mrsdjsdj send it to me when you do... im going to get another half as soon as i can so i can play around some more. i believe the third half will fit nicely as the bottom.

  • @mrsdjsdj exactly why it is my bushcraft setup. very fire friendly. but try telling those cotton kills ppl and they will laugh at you.
