[1] The song uses the verb "halten" in may different ways (prefixes, etc.) that cannot all be translated with the same verb in English so most of the repetition is lost in translation.

[2] The chorus was inspired by the song "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer" ("Mack the Knife") from the Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera) by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill.

@unrealshrimp dude they are talking about staying together!!! and how they are a single unit like a colony of ants or a phalanx! ever seen the official music video? it shows Till being barried and the 5 band members suspecting each other over it. he even said in "the making of Haifisch" that the lyrics are meant to tell people that we are a single unit or family. if you think staying together with family is shitty then what are you doing in Amerika?
