The movie is a compilation created for the Velocity Cookout at AirVenture 2008. It was created from videos shot by Velocity Owners and Builders. Thanks to all that contributed.

Recreated, hopefully, without any WMG music in the background.

  • can u land on short landing strips?

  • Yes and No. The canard design makes flaps impractical. The swept wing is designed for high speed. The pusher configuration doesn't blast air over the wing like a tractor configuration. Lift is generated only when the aircraft is up to speed. Canards tend to take off and land at higher speeds than conventional aircraft and therefore use more runway. That being said, Bill Mulrooney has 450HP in his Velocity and can easily get in and out of a 2600’ strip.

  • I fell in love with Velocity at the first time I saw it - what a masterpiece! BTW - what´s the music? I know it by heart, just can´t find out the name :-) Nice video, especially the end!

  • Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked the video.

The opening is Holst - The Planets (sections from Mercury and Jupiter)

    Tchaikovsky - Capriccio Italien

    Bond on Bond

    Debussy - Clair de Lune

  • my friends at aviation high school pay me out on these planes... say prop stike and shit AGH!!

its a fantasic aircraft! its more manovable and soo soo much more beautiful than a jaberui or a cessna... Velocity is the best single engine aircraft by far!

  • I have never heard of a prop strike during landing or takeoff; it just doesn't happen. The prop used on any canard aircraft must be very light. They are either wood or composite. When a retract Velocity has landed gear up, the prop blades are lost, however, very little damage is done to the plane. In most cases the prop is overhauled and with less than 100 hours of work on the fuselage, it is back in the air. Not the same for an aluminum plane.

  • wonderful!

  • Loved your video man beautiful :)

I have to admit I am in love with the Canard design and in that the Velocity. Beautiful Aircraft, You are one lucky man to be able to not only fly it but also own it.

Envy you but in a friendly way.

please do upload more videos of you and your aircraft.

  • @aandc2005 My buddy and I were doing 160 knots and at 60 feet AGL on a trip to Key West when the video was taken on a windy day. I thought it was pretty steady considering.

  • @aandc2005 The low level footage by the bridge was taken by my buddy in his Velocity. We were at 160 knots and 60 feet AGL on a gusty day. I thought he did a pretty great job.

  • Holst Jupiter, what a great song

  • nice video with beautifull music....awesome job!

  • The low level footage by the bridges was too shaky, otherwise an excellent video, Thanks
