wow ive been trying to rig for UDK or weeks following different tutorials yet just watching yours, i know this will work for me. this is my first time rigging and importing. will this work if the character is like an NPC so basically it will be programmed to move itself

@fritzstudio hey.... it might have an year.... :p ... but still the content is priceless... I still use your tutorial to rig and animate my character... both biped and quadped.... will send my unreal demo vid as vidreply... just a thanks for your efforts... regards and respect

I think I've figured it out! I just had to click preview on the "blend by direction" node! Finally its working!

Thankfully its not doing it now, and I can press the preview button (for me its that "eye" symbol) to preview each anim. What I dont understand though, is why my animtree wont work like yours! I noticed how you could move the direction slider around and it would blend through ALL 4 anims, but for me the only one that will play is the one I click preview on. I dont know why its doing that, cos when I made my crappy rig of Lara back in the day, it worked fine!

Okay everythings working fine, up until the point where I add the rest of the "anim nodes". Only the "walk forward" animation plays in the animtree. None of the others do anything at all. Funny thing is, they work fine in the Skeletal Mesh viewer. Also, the walk forward anim-node has a little yellow box attached to the top left of it, while the others dont. Whats going on? thanks!

How do you input an actor?
I tried deleting the nodes and starting again. When I clicked "preview anim node" on the "walk_b" anim node, it just crashes UDK. I followed everything from the first tutorial to the letter, except I'm using a different character and my animation names are different. I dont understand what Im doing wrong... All of the animations work in the Skeletal Mesh Viewer, but only one of them works in the Tree editor, and if I try to preview any of the others in that editor, it just crashes instantly...

@ncshuriken If I understand this correctly.. The AnimTree editor crashes when you turn on the Preview button (the little box).. but otherwise, everything is ok.
Have you tried walking your character around in game? Do the correct animations play>?? I've had those Preview buttons crash UDK on me in the Material editor in older builds, and it wouldnt surprise me at all if they have a problem in the AnimTree editor.
