  • Nakano was racing pro. The amateurs were superior and faster throughout that entire era.

Hesslich would have eaten nakano for breakfast. Nakano was one of the smoothest pedallers but not of the same class of Hesslich.

  • Pretty god dam amazing!

  • Yes he was, there was a season or two where, if I am not mistaken, this guy did not lose a single heat.

  • a great song but if this guy is the best sprinter of all time i'll eat my shorts, great drug enhanced sprinter sure, for the best look no further than Hoy.

  • I believe that all podium olympians find an edge. Banned or not, sometimes the docs are ahead of the uci rule book.

I believe Luts was the best regardless. Is Hoy clean?

What is clean to you. If a substance is a performance enhancer but not on the banned list, is a man clean?

Every generation has a man claimed clean, yet they beat the drug cheats times and records. Does that not make you wonder how they can be clean. There are so many ways to cheat. Naivety is innocence, that is nice.

  • Respect to Sir Chris Hoy. Unbeleivable athlete.

But, I'll bet if you ask Chris in 10 years, had you raced Hesslich both of you in your peak..., You may be surprised at his answer.

Athletes of this quality are very in tune with their abilities and also very intelligent of their predecessors abilities. Respect to King Hesslich.

  • can anybody tell me the name of the group playing the music thanks.

  • I think I saw him in the Olympics back in the 80's. You could see that the poor USSR rider who came up against him in the finals knew he had no chance. I've been trying to figure out his name for years.

  • Hey can anyone tell me the name of this song thanks.

  • @bek959804 At least the tubes were oval in shape :)

  • @Bogglenator1 Their equipment was the best at their time and in fact inspired the modern bike building. The German FES laboratories actually built the first full carbon bikes for the 88 Olympics. Despite his bikes were still made of steel he'll beat most of the modern guys with their Giant, Canondale. The bike is not as important for the sprint as the athlete is. The greater the distance the more important the bike becomes.

  • imagine if they had our equipment that we have today.. danmmmmm..

  • @tuzmic - Nup it's Perko now!

  • @chips108

Agreed! These guys couldn't shine his shoes

  • @arklat No Nothstein never beat Hesslich in any final, Hesslich only lost to Kopylov in 81,82, and Huebner in 86.

  • @abc12345678910390 You are kidding right?
