Grainger and Williams were both obsessed with folk music; but Grainger tended to preserve the strange modalities and rhythms found in English music (which is why Grainger is so difficult to play) whereas Vaughan Williams tended to simplify and/or conform the music to make it more conventional to the classical tradition

Well, they were both contemporaries, I suppose and they both collected folk songs, but Vaughan Williams was Grainger's senior by ten years, so I'm going to say that Grainger sounds Vaughan Williams-esque.
This sounds EXTREMELY Vaughan Williams-esque, though.

This sounds incredibly Grainger-esque.

@Hallucigenius: I just found out that Grainger made an outstanding arrangement of that very song, though he titled it "Green Bushes" for some reason.

I recognize "The Cutty Wren" from 1:30 to 2:00. One of my favourite English folk songs of all time.

Part of this is a sprightly rendition of The Banks of Green Willow by Butterworth,
