@exarmydoc Actually, there were a lot more than just the forces you named. Technically, you are quite correct, the battle did last for the month of June. I was more correcting the "Devil Dog comment (now removed). But in truth, the main battle for the woods actually lasted only two days, with parts of the 5th Marines and 6th Marines taking the woods.

@exarmydoc I'm sorry but I got my facts wrong and should've deleted that comment alot sooner, thanks for the info

@USMCM249gunner The landings on Nassau in the Revolution were raids against an undefended target. The first successful landing of a large US force was the landing at Vera Cruz in the Mexican War. That was an operation conceived by General Winfield Scott and accomplished by 12,000 Army troops. The number of Marines in that landing was 200, roughly 1.6 % of the landing force.

@exarmydoc aahhahahah youre a joke you spend all your time on Marine Videos what a fan face it your jealous

@Vlaxerman343 On Saipan, Guam, Peleliu, the Japanese stopped the Marines cold. What decided the battles for those islands was that Army Divisions were committed to the fighting. Yes I am aware of what the Marine Corps claims about the 27th ID on Saipan.

@Toddinfantry Not quite. The Battle for Belleau Wood lasted about three weeks, involved two Marine regiments as well as the Army's 2nd Engineer regiment. 2nd Engineer Regiment was called upon to provide reinforcements to the Marines in Belleau Wood. Google the term " Second Engineer Regiment at Belleau Wood".

army, good cooks. navy, give us a ride whenever we gotta fight. airforce, ummm im sure their good for something. coast guard, um i guess they hold down the fort. marines we kick ass and dont even bother takin names!!!!!!!!!!!
-
@Vlaxerman343 The term "Devil Dog" is attributed to the Marines in the battle of Belleau Wood in WW1. No other units could take the woods, the 5th Marine Reg. did it in two days.

Did you guys know that the Japanese actually believed that to become a US Marine you had to kill a member of your family. That just shows you how efficient and terrifying a bunch of US Marines were to the damn Japs, OOORAHH
I bet the Marines got pissed when SEALs put signs up on the beach welcoming them. lol

No SEALS, however the Seals' Granfather UDT were there, combination of MArines and Sailors. In truth Marine Raiders owned the Pacific, SEALS weren't even around.
The Navy needs the SEALS, Marines have RECON, same deal, same schools.
Sorry to brust your bubble.
Keep Attacking!!

What was his full name and years of service? We'll see what we can do!
Don't worry, you'll see your Grandfather again. He was just assigned to a new duty station, his new duty station is guarding the Streets of Heaven.
I also bet when you attend his funneral Marines that knew him and didn't know him will be there. You'll be able to learn a lot about your grandfather from them.
Keep Attacking!!!
