  • Excellent music, as always for the early 17century music from Venice! May I please suggest a greater speed and a more unequal tempo (not so in mesure, remember Il vero modo di Diminuir!). The young player is very good for such a difficult componist. How is his understanding for such an old music?

    Do you play also cornetto?

My deepest respect for your art.

  • Thank you for your good comments about my recorder performance with my boy student.

I am a flute and recorder player and I cannot play the cornetto.

But,I have many interest about the church music of the renaissance and the early baroque period and I think this Castello's Sonata terza is also the same kind of music that I really like.

  • Great composer!

    Bravi!

  • Very nice performance! :) I am a singer and baroque bassoonist in New York City...

Your young student is doing an excellent job and has a good grasp of baroque phrasing and articulation so far. Would you consider adding either a baroque cello or viol da gamba to the bass continuo? I think that would help to define the bass line a lot better than going with organ alone...the string tone would help to give the sound more diverse color and better support for the high treble, do you agree? :)

  • Hey that's very nice ..small ensemble hard to pull off but you did..

  • Absolutely fantastic, the music is transcendentally beautiful and really puts you back in the renaissance era - my favourite era of music. Bravo please post more, this is lovely.

  • I have been playing the flute since elementary school and i have to say this piece really moved me. A lot of modern music needs to include more flute and recorders in their music.

  • Excellent performance! Have you thought about performing it with 2 G altos? (down a 4th, with soprano fingerings) I love to do this for 17th century Italian music, although one usually has to rewrite the bass line.

  • You are welcome Madame, i hope you will post other fine interpretations. Possibly Girolamo della Casa (Giovanni Gabrieli primo cornettista at San Marco!), Giovanni Antonio Rigatti, surely the divine Giovanni Gabrieli, T. Merula. Good work and luck!
