Please give yourself a change to HEAL. Don't fall prey to the skepticism. Remove your contacts and palm for an hour. If you don't see any immediate improvements I will give you $20.

I hope everything goes ok with your eye, I know so little about the subject that I really can't offer much more than well-wishing.
I do know a person who has lost his vision in one eye due to an accident, and it was actually quite some time before I found out. I've asked him and he has not noticed it having a significant impact on his life, even tasks that would be expected to rely on depth perception.
I realize that's not terribly comforting, but I hope it removes *some* stress to hear it.

You would almost think that the eyes were pretty poorly designed, definitely didn't have a genius working on that one. Do hope you can get it fixed though.

Ok. Well I wouldn't worry too much yet. If it was macular degeneration (I asked about this in another question on here), that would be REALLY BAD...it is usually an irreversable congential defect which ends in blindness. However Myopic degeneration is due to poor vision which strains the eyes and may damage retinas. Thus, I would play it chill until you hear that it is untreatable. cheers!

Myopic degeneration is what happened to my friend. The docs performed vision corection. This took the strain off his retinas. In his case, the thick lenses he wore were making the light increase the damage to his retinas. Is this what your doctor may do, or is it another type of surgery?

I don't know. He said very little more than he was concerned, and insisted I see a retinal specialist.
