This is my child. I am his father. My son is now 4 1/2 years old. We live in Miami Beach where he swims in the pool, the bay, and the ocean year-round. He loves the water with a passion. He can snorkel by himself on local reefs, dive for lobster, and out-swim 99% of his friends. No psychological damage, and he is the safest, most prepared kid on the water I know.

Thanks for all the "you crazy Amercians" comments. It gives my whole family a good laugh every time we read them! Especially my son!

Even though I think it is a very good thing to teach childrean this type of survival skill I cant help but wonder what kind of psycological impact this has on a child.This video shows a kid who is not enjoying him self at all. Shouldn't the class start with the child actually getting used to the water and enjoying the water around him and then transition into teaching how to float on thier back. It seems that this kid was just thrown in there with out warning. Poor kid.

j'ai une boule au ventre, rien qu'en entendant pleurer votre enfant, comment peut on forçer un enfant alors qu'il pleure à faire ce qui veut pas ?!!!!!!!!!!!! Sa devrait être un moment de jeu pour qu'il aprenne, vous le torturer, ça m'écoeure.......
