EECE 251 - Final Exam Q6: MOSFET

A CMOS transistors pair powered by a five volts power supply is alternatively fed by different input values. For each input value, what is the mode of operation of each one of the MOSFETs, it's currents and the output voltage for the set. Determining the mode of operation for the PMOS transistor, Qp, and for the NMOS transistor, Qn, proves to be the final competency test for this course.

(continuation) ..... And so it was, at first ... two transistors . The FET and the BJT. For each of them, there were two flavours, BJT-npn, and BJT-pnp, FET-nchannel, FET-pchannel. At one point, designers came up with a way to isolate the gate from the channel and created the first FET with insulated gate, the IGFET. By contrast the junction FET was called ... JFET! ... A note on the genealogy of the MOSFET. A MOSFET is just a type of transistor, but a transistor nonetheless. Do not lose sight of that! How is that? The first transistor to be patented ever was the FET, decades before Schockley, Brattain and Bardeen invented the "other transistor" the Bipolar Junction Transistor, BJT. .....(continues)....
