MITT ROMNEY: "...He spent 27 years in Washington; I haven't spent any years in Washington. ... I understand how the economy works. ... I understand how to grow an economy. I understand why jobs come in and why jobs go. We, we disagree on a number of issues, one of them I just mentioned was with regards to taxation. Um, he voted against the Bush tax cuts. Twice. He voted against the Bush tax cuts. That's failing Reagan 101. Reagan taught us, Reagan taught us all, he taught almost all of us in the Republican party that lowering taxes would grow the economy and was good for our economy and good for, good for individuals. And, uh, and I believe that the Republicans are gonna nominate a tax-cutter to become president of the United States. There are other places we have differing views, immigration being one of them, and I'm sure over time you'll see some other differences, but my record is one of having worked consistently to try to turn around enterprises to make them stronger. I have led things, I have run things. [...] As Senator Gregg said, you're not gonna change Washington unless someone comes in that will shake it up. Now I, I'm not a lifelong politician. And if you think that a lifelong politician is what Washington needs, if you think somebody who spent the last almost three decades in Washington is the right thing for our leadership, then I"m not your person."
