wind power car thing

the wind powered car vehicle that we hadda make for intro to mech (IME) at UTS!!!!

the car was fan powered and went into the wind. it used one wind turbine

it actually worked!!! (car is also for sale....)

@AnThOnYrox8 they still using this assignment omg lmao. make ur blades out of something rigid. I think the winner for our sem used balsa wood planks, our blades flexed too much and didn capture enough power. there was also a hobby shop some where in ultimo that sold 2nd hand bearings in good cond for like 2 bucks each. simple is best, if it is too complicated it will most prob not work on the day and every 1 will laugh at you inc terry

@evilpotato89 ahhh k makes sense. For the transmission system i was thinking along the lines of using a variety of gear ratios before transmitting the power to the axles, but then i saw that a string can be used to pull the wheels around. I thought it had to be a continuous transmission not a one time use. BTW was only told about this assignment today haha first tut :P

@AnThOnYrox8 "not too complicated" the track is only like 2 or 3m long so diff gears will not work/be useless. I would stick to one gear. we chucked a larger bit of wood on our wheel axle, but just keep in mind to make sure the ratio is right also use strong shafts. Start ur assignment early, it is hell making your car thing the night b4. You are very keen, and if you haven't dropped out by the end of the year, uts engineering will get to you :)
