Anche i matti possono fare cose straordinarie. Pier Gianni Burreddu le ha fatte: ha attraversato l'oceano Atlantico su una barca a vela insieme ad altri uomini e donne con disagio psichico, ha suonato il suo basso tra delfini e balene, è passato indenne attraverso burrasche, ma soprattutto ha saputo affrontare a viso aperto la sua malattia. Il documentario racconta il viaggio in Atlantico - da Cadice alle Antille - di Pier Gianni sulla "barca dei folli". Il giorno in cui l'equipaggio si lascia alle spalle la costa spagnola puntando verso sud-ovest, Pier Gianni non immagina che quella rotta oceanica in realtà lo sta riportando a casa, in Sardegna. Durante la navigazione Pier ripercorre la sua storia: il travagliato rapporto con i genitori, la malattia mentale, gli elettoshock, i molti ricoveri, ma anche la forza vitale della sua musica. Sbarcando nel nuovo mondo ritroverà il coraggio e il desiderio di tornare a Sassari dove tutto era cominciato molti anni prima.

Even crazy people can do extraordinary things. Pier Gianni Burreddu certainly has: he has sailed crossed the Atlantic ocean together with other men and women who suffer from mental illness, played his bass with dolphins and whales, and come through sea storms unharmed, but above all he has been able to deal openly with his illness. The documentary tells the story of Pier Giannis journey across the Atlantic from Cadice to the Antilles on the crazy boat. The day the crew left the Spanish coast behind them, heading southwest, little did Pier Gianni imagine that the oceanic route was in reality taking him back home to Sardinia. During the journey Pier relived his past; the tormented relationship with his parents, the mental illness, the electroshocks, the many hospital stays, but also the vital force of his music. Landing in the new world he found the courage and the desire to return to Sassari where everything had begun many years before.
