The Reef (V48 HOURS 2008)

Now subtitled.

This DQed short is our best film we've made for V48Hours so far. It took 52 hours to make so we were disqualified. Bugger. That said, this is an incredible effort by those involved:

Frank - Voice actor/Script writer
Roy - Sound engineer

Genre: Juvenile Delinquent Movie
Dialogue: Wait a minute
Character: Kerry Post - Perfectionist
Object: Brush

The film is based on the Māori legend of Pania of the Reef. When we got the genre of Juvenile Delinquent we took the angle of the male (Karitoki) being the delinquent, and being chewed out by his overbearing father.

The story quickly turned into a film noir and imagery was based on that style.

This time we managed to script and voice all the dialogue within the first 6 hours. Our team has not managed to create a dream run like that since.
