  • Jesus said repeatedly that the "end times" would be soon, he said this directly to people who were alive 2000 years ago. "Before this generation passes" and "While some of you are still standing". This did not happen so your religeon is as false as your book.

  • @phookadude

Make sure you don't confuse the end of the world with the destruction of Jerusalem which happened in 70 AD. Also, you are misquoting Matthew 16:28 which is saying that there will be people standing in that place that wiil not die but rather go right into the kingdom when Christ comes.

In Luke 21 Jesus is clear that the end will not come soon but after many things happen.

    God bless.

  • @reconciled2God So in luke 21:32 when he says this generation will not pass until all these things have happened referring to the things throughout luke 21 like "at that time they shall see the son of man comming in a cloud with great power and glory" this reffers to the destruction of Jerusalem?

  • @phook

It is taught that this refers either that when the times of the Gentiles is ended (vs.24) then that 'generation' will see Christ come.

Or it could simply mean that the nation of Israel would not pass away until the end etc. (which is true and far as the Jewish people, in spite all that those people have went through.) The greek word is translated 'nation' in Phil 2:15.

It could be that he is uses this word to refer to the Jews and not the organized government of Israel.

  • @reconciled2God It could say that but that would be trying to make it say something it doesn't to support your beliefs. That is obviously not what it says, apologists have been working for 2000 years to explain why "soon" is so delayed.

Matthew 16:28 is obviously saying "some who are standing now" meaning some of those people back then he was talking too will not be dead before they see the second comming. Read it without your assumption that your beliefs are true.

  • @phookadude

I will read it without an assumption that it is true if you will read it without the assumption that it is false. It doesn't matter what it says, you refuse to try to understand it. That is your problem. You are biased against it. I have explained what it says and you have just ignored the answer. If you read the context 'soon' means that it will happen quickly. So fast that you cannot see it coming to prepare. That is always the meaning.

  • @phookadude

By the way, where does the word 'soon' appear in connection with the second coming? I can't find it in the KJV.

  • Using the bible to prove the bible is true is in itself a fallacy.

Saying that it says things that man wouldn't normally know, like the fact that God should be worshiped is demonstrably false, there are many holy books that make this claim, and they all directly contradict each other.

Anyone convinced by these baseless arguments should do themselves a favor and take logic 101.

    /facepalm

  • If christians knew the bible well none would not listen to silly cherry picked quotes like this.Numbers 31:17

Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. Just bc Xians are afraid to face the reality of mortal existence does not mean that it is OK for them to go on thrashing in the dark. wake up and see that each one of us makes the world better or worse in the days that we have. Do what is right.

  • I think he has made some good points. But those points would need to be checked against other religious books. Anyway can an atheist say where sin came from I would like an answer from an atheist not from a Christan as I know their answers And also where did redemption, rapture, saved, resurrection, holy God, his will be done, Halo be thy name The Christ Idea and all that stuff Christians talk about like Why would any one come up with such things Why a Christ to save us from sin etc.

  • You know whats funny? Christians say that the US is almost all christian, but you look at these youtube videos and the statistics show its pretty much all US viewers, but they're almost all more than 50 percent thumbs down.

    "Well one must have FAITH"

Faith only provides assurance to the individual, but it is not valid to verify actual facts.

    "Several secular historical writers wrote...resurrection"

Can you give me (and everyone else) one to look up myself about the resurrection, please?

"Anything mention in the Bible that has been DIS-PROVEN"

Even if this were true, the fact that something hasn't been dis-proven (according to your definition, that is) doesn't make it true. Proof is a strong word.

  • @4EverTrying: Well one must have FAITH, but there is plenty of evidence to support that faith. Several secular historical writers wrote about Yeshua (Jesus) and His life, death and resurrection. These were not religious men just historians. Also there has not been anything mentioned in the Bible that has been DIS-PROVEN. Yes there are something that have not been verified yet but nothing proven to be an error. Just looking into a single Cell and one can see the fingerprint of God. God bless.

  • @ljackso

And what makes you so positive that Christianity is a "fact"? Where is the evidence? Just because you were told it's true or believe it's true doesn't make it true. Quit telling me the teachings of Christianity (which I know a lot more than you give me credit for) and give me PROOF that it is true! The burden on proof is definitely on you, especially if you are positive Christianity is true. Tell me why you think so. I do have an open mind to listen, just give me something!

  • @4EverTrying: Your not believing does not change the fact. You will stand before God one day and you will have to give an account for your life. Just telling God that you DID not believe in Him will not get you off the hook. He has offered you a free gift, your sins forgiven and eternal life. If you reject that gift then you only have yourself to blame. God is merciful but He is also just. If you do not accept the gift of Christ dying for your sins then YOU will have to pay yourself.

  • @ljackso

What? Yes there is such a word used in what we call slang. This isn't a standard English class. I don't see how my use of the word theirselves is in anyway part of my "problem" to not believe in the Bible as being god's word. Can you explain?

    "...while there is still time."

How do you expect me to believe in the consequences the Bible declares if I don't believe the Bible is god's word in the first place? That's the point! I DON'T believe the Bible is god's word, period. :(

  • @4EverTrying: I see part of your problem. There is no such word as theirselves. The correct word would be: Themselves. God loves you and wants to save you. Seek His mercy while there is still time.

  • @ljackso

Challenge. Ask god to do something for you that is not possible for anyone or anything else to do besides god. This does NOT include changing yourself because anyone has the ability to change theirselves.

If you are thinking, "I ask according to God's will," realize that this statement in the Bible is to strategically restrict what you pray for so that every prayer is possible to be answered. Think why are the prayers that violate this "rule" never answered? What a conspiracy!
