Making light of it or saying it doesn't have an effect on girls is pure ignorance. This is sexist stereotyping, that somehow made it through panels of CEOS who thought it was an appropriate toy for young girls. How are you going to blame the little girls whose parents buy them these things, and whom adults make these toys for? The only people to blame are the adults, who think it's okay to belittle little girls in such condescending ways.

Having female rolemodels (teachers, artists, and in this case a doll that is seen as what women should be like) say math is hard will cause girls to do worse on math class; there was a study about it.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure every girl that bought it would of agreed

I have a master's in physics. I think math is tough.

@heavenlyeve I agree, I don't know what the protests were all about. When someone says that certain subjects are difficult to understand, it does not mean they are stupid or less capable.

@senorSHAZAM Speak for yourself. Not every girl is as dumb as you.

Iran just banned all shops that were selling all Barbies. By their approach to freedom and common sense, mullahs are like feminists on steroids.
-
Even girls are smart enough to know that this is a negative stereotype.

ppl were so mad :( I never really saw Skipper Courtney dolls talk :( without a phone!

I still have this doll, however, she has been modified over the years. Never changed the batteries & she still works. I never really thought of the sayings as offensive.
it's not sexist. the doll was just made to talk about things most teen girls would've said back at the time. if they thought this was degrading, look at teen girls now.
