The designer of the SRT-10 finally got in a flight at SEFF 2009 and ended up crashing the plane on an approach to the runway. It was one heck of a way to end an event. This video is brought to you by the staff of wattflyer.com.
@eastcoast78 There has been a lot of discussion about the incident on the AMA forums and other forums. AMA has deleted all references on their site. Do a search for it on RC Groups.com

Appx 70 lb aircraft.
Failed flight test (required for >55 lb aircraft for AMA waiver) with major damage before the SEFF event.
Taken to SEFF for display...
Someone convinced him to repair it at SEFF and attempt flight.
Attempted flight, crashed, more damage.
More repair...
And another failed flight with partial loss of control resulting in crash.

@fhhuber506771 I was being sarcastic...seeing that cart at the end saying SEFF police lol
How you know it was over 55lbs?

@eastcoast78 Just because certain "elites" gave it "a wink and a nod" doesn't make it right.
There's a long list of people who were there who should have corrected the CD and prevented the flight attempts: EVERY AMA member present.
It is the CD's responsibility in the end though. His event. He can tell any participant, "No, you can't fly that."
The owner/pilot of the plane should also have known better. He HAD TO know he was violating the > 55 lb model rules.

Performed at an AMA sanctioned event in violation of at least 3 sections of the AMA Safety Code...
Anyone asking that the CD have his CD status revoked is being punished by the AMA leadership.

It was obvious on takeoff that wing was dangerously underpowered. The pilot's lucky he didn't crash into anyone on the ground.
