The Toon legend donated £320,000 of his testimonial cash to help transform a centre for disabled children.
The 36-year-old former skipper is giving the money to charity St Cuthbert's Care to revamp its St Vincent's House centre in Newcastle's West End.
The new complex will be named after him and offer disabled children and their families a choice as to how to spend their time together.
