HP=Horrible Products
The company knew the GPU problem for many years in all DV series and never recalled them-just extended warranty after Class Action suit. They suck!

i am having problems here, mine has to be at a certain angle or it will not load anything. i have to press hard on the touch pad to get the cursor to move and i also need to do that if i want the thing to load. it needs a light smack next to the touch pad to work too. what exactly is the problem? i am getting really fed up here, over the past few days i have been having these problems.

I ve done it today just with a lighter and some thermodinamic paste. It works, thanks god. but I don t know for how long... is this only some temporary solution?

First it was a black screen that fixed with new inverter and i still think theres a problem because where the inverter is at it gets quite hot and now the fan is not doing its job as keeping the laptop cool. How would i go about checking it out? Would i have to remove the bottom cover for this? Its a decent laptop but with wayyyyyyyy to many damn problems.

my driver died on me after 6 months... not a good computer, it over heats from day 1. can't replace graphics card, mother bored issues, can't clean out GPU fan. i mean come on HP!
Cold joint under GPU in most of cases.

So I've re-flowed five times and still it boots up for a day or two then.... blue lights blank screen. My gpu temp monitor read 96-98 at the most after the the re-flows. Then I sanded two pennies instead of one (seeing that when I squeezed on the heat sink mother/board that the heat compound squished out with only one.) The whole deal seamed alot tighter. Fallowing that I drilled holes on the case below the gpu. now its reading 135 or so, much more accurate considering the issue. make it tight!

You did something wrong. It's better to leave it for experienced technician. Temperature of GPU after repair is arround 55 - 65 degrees celsius, during overload in 3D mark it's 70 - 75.
