Yay! My first Titanic video! Okay, this is not your typical Tommie video about Andrews/Rose...Instead, it is about Tommie's love for the ship Titanic, and how, now that it is sinking, he feels the blame and sees how his masterpiece of human engineering will meet her end. Based on the song, "Mr. Andrew's Vision" from the musical Titanic (yes there is a musical called Titanic, and it is really, really, good by the way...). Look it up. Please comment! :)

  • I did a Titanic project in language arts and we all were assigned a person. I got Thomas Andrews and I must say that afterwards he is my total hero. I love him so much. I have a Titanic book that talks about how kind and wonderful he was, and I cried in the movie when he died! R.I.P. Thomas Andrews, it wasn't his fault the Titanic sank. I personally blame White Star Line, because they were too confident to think clearly.

  • @Moonsong8000 Yeah, Tommie was at the mercy of the White Star Line. They called the shots, Tommie tried to tell them what they needed for the ship, but the company wouldn't hear it. He became my hero after I saw Cameron's movie, and when I heard the musical, it just reinforced that for me.

  • @LordCutlerBeckett And I presented the project on Tommie's birthday.

  • @Moonsong8000 How awesome is that?! Yes, Victor Garber played him wonderfully! I'd like to think that I'd do something as honorable as that in his position, but I'm sure I wouldn't. We always think we'd do the right thing in life-or-death situations, but until we're actually in that position, we can't say for sure what we'd do. True heros are rare, and Tommie was one of them.

  • no clue how i am related to thomas andrews because wasn't he single?

  • @TitanicMemory51 No, no. He was married and even had a little girl, Elizabeth Law Barber Andrews (or as she was frequently called by her initials, Elba) who was about a year-and-a-half old when he died. However, his daughter never had any children. Tommie did have siblings though, so if you are related to him, it would be through them.

  • Thomas Andrews is my Hero

  • @ShadowXII Actually, he wanted to have 54 lifeboats and a double hull but the Whitestar executives and Ismay shot these down. They thought the deck would look too cluttered and 1st class would not have enough deck space (and the requirement was only 20 lifeboats, no matter what the size of the ship). The double hull was denied because Ismay wanted 1st class to have bigger staterooms. Pretty much all that could have stopped Titanic sinking was denied for luxury and to save on cost.

  • @scr1231 It wasn't even 1/10000 his fault. He wanted to double the hull and add 54 more lifeboats, but he was overruled. It's all Ismay's and White Star Line's fault. Actually, partially Captain Smith's fault too, because he wouldn't slow the ship down.

  • @LordCutlerBeckett The actor is so good at playing him, he's just so awesome. And Tommie's great too. I would have never been able to pull off something as honorable and brave as him, like dying when you had the choice to live.

  • Thank-you Mr. Andrews for creating three beautiful sisters, non of like the world has ever saw or ever see again RIP:}

  • I use a moblie device, and I can't watch this! Plz make it so I can watch this video! You'd get more views too!

  • I'm so glad you made this video. I've been reading about the real Thomas Andrews, and he was definitely a hero. It's a very tragic story. He tried to save as many people as he could. At the end, he stayed aboard the ship and accepted his fate. The scene of him standing by the fireplace and looking at the painting is actually based on a real witness account. That was the last time he was seen alive. Sadly, he probably blamed himself and felt that he deserved to die. But he was a hero.

  • Mr. Andrews was partly responsible for all those people dying.
